The Teletext Games digital television project presented many challenges.
The most complex issues came from making games like roulette and blackjack “playable” on a television; presenting their content clearly within the limits of a television screen and also enabling full player functionality within the ergonomic constraints of a ‘common’ set of remote control elements and within the technical limitations of the UK’s digital terrestrial television specification and guidelines.
Beyond the basic interface issues there were also major issues with aligning the service to passwords, phones and overall data and systems management.
The end product however, in terms of branding design, interface design, and overall ergonomics and functionality, was a huge success.
